As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the resulting closure of educational institutions, UNESCO, in collaboration with the Regional Education Group for Latin America and the Caribbean, launched a series of web seminars to support Ministries of Education and different stakeholders in the Education sector in the development, management and dissemination of relevant evidence to inform the response. On September 10, 2020, the web seminar “Evaluación formativa: la experiencia de centros escolares en Latinoamérica para movilizar aprendizajes en el contexto de la COVID-19” ("Formative assessment: the experience of schools in Latin America to mobilize learning in the context of COVID-19") was held. Formative assessment is a type of evaluation that shifts the focus from outcomes to processes and growth, with an emphasis on feedback. For the seminar, a call was made through an online form, through which UNESCO gathered experiences of formative assessment of teachers in the region. The call received more than 10,300 responses, whose systematization is reflected in this document. The results may shed some light on the profiles and attitudes of the participants, in order to open the discussion regarding the needs that exist to start installing an evaluation culture.
