Abstract
The international Large-scale assessments (ILSA) are an invaluable tool for improving our educational systems, but they also carry significant risks. Although the limitations and challenges discussed in this monographic issue of Revista Iberoamericana de Educación do not make ILSAs inherently problematic, there are reasons to keep an eye on the design of the evaluations and the use of the evidence that results from them, to determine how we can optimize the evaluation use of the information they produce. This monograph coordinated by professors Jorge Sainz and Andrés Sandoval gives a sample of what is happening in our region.
