Global citizenship education and education for sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean: 2030 Education Agenda components in the curricula of the countries participating in Regional Comparative and Explanatory Study (ERCE 2019)

Abstract

This brief document of results shows the main outcomes of a curriculum analysis that reviewed the presence of Global Citizenship Education (GCE) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in the curricula of nineteen countries of the region. The document is structured as follows: first, as background information a brief description of the work done by the Laboratory and ERCE 2019 is presented, i.e. the study in which this analysis is framed; second, the methodological strategy used to monitor the presence of GCE and ESD in the Latin America and the Caribbean curricula is described; third, the main findings of the analysis are presented, and finally, some conclusions and guidelines are described in order to move forward in the inclusion of both components in the curricula and education programs of the region.
