Abstract
The book gives and account of the Nepalese government's efforts to develop a non-formal education system operating in parallel to the formal system, so as to meet the needs of all children and young people who do not have access to school or who have dropped out early. It draws a comparison between the main characteristics of the non-formal education centres thus created and those of traditional schools, while paying special attention to the educational links between the two systems.
