Abstract
This background paper reviews the global data system surrounding forcibly displaced people and their access to education. Through an in-depth examination of six country case studies, the paper assesses critical data gaps and methodological issues underpinning current data schema. It then establishes a rough global estimate for the proportion of school-age children who are forcibly displaced — as well as the percentage of those children who are likely out-of-school. It includes policy recommendations targeted at national and international organisations for improving data systems and reporting on education for forcibly displaced people.
