Endline report of Early Literacy among pre-school and primary school children in Gaza Province, Mozambique

Submitted by admin on
Abstract

In response to the increasing need to ensure that Mozambican children develop sound early literacy skills, Save the Children initiated the Early Literacy Project in Mozambique in 2008. The target population for the project was approximately 7,800 preschool- and primary school-age children (ranging from 3 to 10 years old or enrolled in school until Grade 4), including children affected by HIV/AIDS and other vulnerable children. This study reports on the characteristics of students who could not be located at endline, as well as the observed difference in learning during the 2011-2012 school year between Literacy Boost and comparison students, as well as reporting on students in Early Childhood Development (ECD).
