What does the evidence tell us about girls’ education?

Submitted by admin on
Abstract

The first section of this report outlines an overview of the issues surrounding girls’ education identified by the three research reports. This is followed by a presentation of the critical issues and barriers to girls’ education through themes that are critical to the British Council’s work in education. These themes include teacher professional development and instructional leadership, strengthening education systems, language policy and practice related to work on English as Language of Instruction, remedial and non-formal education. The report then presents some of the existing evidence of ‘what works’ across the thematic areas in relation to girls’ education in Sub Saharan-Africa and concludes with recommendations for programming.
