Understanding teaching quality in Rwandan secondary schools: learning from the Leaders in Teaching initiative 2020

Submitted by admin on
Abstract

Leaders in Teaching is a five-year Mastercard Foundation initiative established in 2018 to improve the quality of teaching and learning in Rwandan secondary schools, with a focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects. In 2019-20, Laterite and the REAL Centre carried out research activities to assess teaching quality within the Leaders in Teaching programme for the Rwandan context, and support continuous learning and improvement within the initiative. This paper is a synthesis of the key systemic factors associated with teaching and learning quality in Rwandan secondary education, informed by this learning partner research.
